RE: Burglarized

I wonder if you could install a car alarm in a RV with a siren hidden under the belly??:@
I know they make alarms for RVs. There is one in my storage lot that goes off every time I drive by it towing my trailer. Guess it does not like the pipes on the TV.

RE: My wife wants to drive my truck to work

With that long a drive and the costs of fuel, you should be able to save enough to make payments on a snazzy little sports car and save the truck for camping!!!!
My truck stays parked execpt for camping and snowdays. I would sell it but then how would I tow the camper? I personaly take my motorcycle to work pretty much year round. 42 mpg beats 12.9 any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Thus if you enjoy riding it might be a good selling point to the spouse for you to buy a new motorcycle. It worked for me.

RE: Drinking water hoses

I drain my water hose and then coil it up and connect the ends together to keep anything from getting inside the hose then store it in the basement. :)
ditto! I also store it as far away from my stinky slinky and flash kit hose as possible.

RE: Help me find a TT, 5,000lbs and under dry, w/bunks.

Look at the Crossroads Sunset Trail trailers. They are light with slides.
I would also vote to go for the larger engine. A V6 will not cut it in MHO. My trailer is 5200# dry and I am pushing it with my Dodge Ram 1500 V8. After bolting on a cool air intake and dual exhaust she does much better. I will be upgrading to a larger TV in a few years when the trailer is paid down a bit. If you are buying a TV now might as well spend a few extra $$ on what your going to be happy with in the long run.

RE: Winter Blues - I want to go CAMPING

Dude I picked up a new 2008 Crossroads Sunset Trail 30 BH about a month ago. Towed it to the storage lot and winterized it. I fell your pain. Iam considering a trip at the end of the month to a nearby KOA to test it out. Might get to see just how four seasons a four seasons trailer is.

RE: Crossroads Sunset Trail versus K-Z Spree???

I own a Sunset Trail 30BH. Have not taken it out yet but so far I love it. The only bad thing I can say about it would be the DVD/CD/AM/FM radio is AC only but I am installing an inverter since I Boondock 99.9% of the time.

RE: His/Hers RV duties.....

Yep we fall into this for the most part too. I drive the truck up the mountain, when we get there I level the TT and lock the tires then unhook and crank down the stablerizers. I then pull out the genny and lower the bottom bunk. DW at this point has taken out her camp chair and cracked open a book.
Once everything is set on the TT I unload the ATV's. I go about building a fire ring and collecting firewood.
As far as cooking DW takes care of that area.
When it is time to leave DW takes care of packing up the inside and I take care of the outside.
We then change places and check over each other's work to make sure we did not forget anything.
This system works great for us.

RE: Kids: How old for bunk beds?

I have a 4 yo and a 6 year old. Both have slept in the upper bunk (most of the time it is the 6 yo however. I do make her sleep behind the wall with her feet towards the opening, if that makes sense. Would not be hard to make a rail to keep them from falling out. I would say 4 is the youngest I would even consider.

I found it!!
http://i18.tinypic.com/8fb5rlz.jpg
It's a Kohler commercial toilet. Probably easy to keep clean - but not very "user friendly"
Deb
Other then the fact that it is not metal it looks like a prison cell toliet (Use to work not live at one)

RE: How many people watch TV while camping?

For us TV is a case by case basis. We normally boondock in the Colorado mountains and are only in the trailer for sleeping and some eating. Rest of the time we are on the ATV's. 99.9% of the time there is no TV on those trips. With that said I have a 4 year old and a 6 year old. Colorado weather is very unpredictable. If it goes bad and we are stuck in the trailer for several hours a DVD of cartoons or a childrens movie is just pure self-preservation. When we take long trips to see family or friends it is nice to watch the news or a movie after a long day of driving.

RE: Is it PC to knock on a door just to ask to see inside?

I would not like someone knocking on the door and interrupting my private time (like dinner or sleep) however, If I am outside, and most of the time I am except for dinner and sleep, and you asked about my trailer I would love to brag on it and show you around.

RE: Packages on RVs

Have you run into the "mandatory options" yet? Some manufacturers actually use this phrase to mean a package of "options" that you can't buy the unit without. This is all sales-speak. I dont know whether they are so diabloical that they purposefully intend to confuse the buyer or just grossly incompetent. In either case, it's Buyer Beware.
Mandatory options my TT had these. Kind of like Mandatory Fun when I was in the Army. How can the be options if they are mandatory?????????????

RE: Have you ever heard of this?

Very common to use the sewer clean-out (not the storm drain which I have also seen). Lots of people tap into this to sep up there own dump stations at home. I don't because my clean out is in the garage and the driveway is steep. I would need a pump and since I have a station at my storage lot two blocks away I see no need to shell out the cash on a pump.

RE: All I want for Christmas...

Lets see where do I start... air bags for the TV suspension, a new GPS, a new ham radio for the trailer, a few tanks of gas, more leveling blocks, electric tounge jack, a 20" LCD TV. Anyone need my shipping address? Merry Early Christmas.
I forgot a new Dodge Ram Mega Cab 3500 with all the bells and whistles.
